What is a “Solutions Track”?
The Solutions Track features case studies highlighting private-sector solutions to solve common local government problems. Selected sessions ― sponsored and presented by private organizations ― highlight in a best-practices format how local governments overcome common challenges through public-private partnerships. Ideas for the Solutions Track range from land-use planning to information technology to budgeting and tourism.
What is the benefit to my company?
It’s a win-win. ICMA members who get to see and hear directly from you about leading-edge ideas and programs that work for local governments of all shapes and sizes. Solutions Track sessions ― along with company names ― are featured in the conference programs and promoted through the conference website and email channels.
What does the $7,500 session fee include?
This sponsorship fee covers audio/visual resources and Internet access, two complimentary conference registrations for non-ICMA members, and other costs including marketing and branding of Solutions Track sessions. General-level Strategic Partners receive a 25-percent discount on Solutions Tracks; Executive and Presidential partners receive a 50-percent discount on Solutions Tracks.

How do I apply?
Submit your ideas to via the
online Solutions Track form by Feb. 4, 2019. Each organization may submit up to three ideas for Solutions Tracks.
How are Solutions Track sessions selected?
A committee composed of ICMA members and staff will review nominations and select sessions that highlight the most innovative, practical solutions for local government managers. Selected nominees will be notified by Feb. 18, 2019 (extended by 3 days). If selected, company representative will be required to sign an agreement to clarify roles and expectations. ICMA will provide an invoice separately.
How will my session be marketed?
Final session descriptions will be due for marketing efforts no later than Feb. 21. Descriptions will be included in the conference’s web and mobile app schedule. Strategic Partner sessions will be communicated in ICMA email, web and social channels leading up to the conference. Solutions Track organizations will be recognized as Silver Level Conference sponsors.
When will the sessions occur?
Solutions Track sessions are slated for Monday, Oct. 21, and Tuesday, Oct. 22, in theaters constructed within the exhibit hall at the 2019 ICMA Annual Conference in Nashville. All sessions take place during regular exhibit hall hours. ICMA designs the theaters so that they provide the highest possible audio/visual quality and are conducive to audience engagement. Theaters will be set up to accommodate about 150 local government professionals. Sessions run for 60 minutes. Spots will be determined based on preferences selected in the submission form. Please note: We’ve found that interest in the topic generates attendance more than schedule placement.
Are my submissions confidential?
No. Solutions Track proposals will be shared with members of the solutions track committee. Do not include proprietary or confidential information in your submission. All applications are property of ICMA.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
Signing the Solutions Track agreement is a binding commitment. ICMA will not provide refunds for cancellation, attendee turnout, technical issues, or other circumstances.
