With descriptions like "a bridge between hallway complaints and action in city council," and "takes care of those who can't take care of themselves," selecting 10 Community Heroes from among the dozens of submissions was a challenge.
ICMA launched Community Heroes with support from ICMA-RC last year to highlight those staff members who work with professional city, town, and county managers to improve the quality of life in our communities. In November, managers sent in descriptions of their star performers—from public works to parks and rec and everything in between. In one case, a city manager was nominated by his county.
In our book all of the nominees are heroes and their stories will be featured on the Life, Well Run website over the coming months. These 10 winners will be profiled with a video story and featured as part of our outreach initiatives honoring those who dedicate their lives to public service. Thanks to the managers who shared their Community Hero stories.
