The Equity Summit, July 25-26, 2024, is a virtual event for diversity, equity, and inclusion officers (and those doing the work without the title), as well as local government professionals interested in ideas and institutions to deepen strategies, shape actions, and create solutions.

Throughout two days, the event will create and foster relationships with like-minded professionals, as well as cover best practices, ideas, and innovations in the DEIB space and local government management profession.

This year’s theme:  "Keeping It Moving: The Power of Us" signifies the strength and effectiveness that comes from collective action, collaboration, and solidarity.

In DEI&B (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) circles, "Keeping It Moving: The Power of Us" emphasizes the notion that meaningful progress toward equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging is achieved when individuals, organizations, and communities come together to address systemic barriers, advocate for marginalized groups, and foster environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and included. Through this summit, ICMA seeks to equip and inspire DEIB professionals and their supporters, encouraging them to stay the course, particularly important in the context of our current sociopolitical environment.

Selected in concert with the ICMA Equity Officer Cohort, ICMA seeks sessions with engaging speakers and presentations, focused on topics such as, but not limited to, these examples:

• Organizational Practices and Leadership.
• Cultural Awareness and Social Impact.
• Data Driven Approaches and Continuous Improvement.
• Creative Engagement in an Era of Divisive Democracy.
• The Future of DEI&B.

Presentation formats:

Sessions are generally 60 minutes in length and may be an educational session, panel and discussion, or virtual workshop. Details are included on the presentation submission form.
