The City of Centennial ranks as one of the most “equal” large communities in the country in regards to household incomes. NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website, recently conducted a study to find the places with the greatest income equality in the United States – and Centennial is in the top ten.

NerdWallet surveyed 303 communities with populations of 100,000 or more, comparing the median incomes of the bottom 20 percent and the top 20 percent of households. Between 2007 and 2012, the average household income of the lowest-earning 20 percent of the U.S population decreased by 3.7 percent to $11,797, while that of the highest-earning 20 percent increased by more than four percent to $181,455. The income gap between the rich and poor continues to widen, but Centennial’s population identifies a narrow income gap that translates to high quality of life.

Centennial has the sixth greatest income equality nationwide. The median household income in Centennial is $88,598. The mean annual income of the lowest-earning 20 percent of households is $29,958, while the highest-earning 20 percent bring in more than eight times that amount at $241,166 per year.

As one of the safest cities in Colorado, Centennial offers award winning schools, distinctive parks and open space and advanced business opportunities. In 2012, Money Magazine ranked Centennial 47th out of "100 Best Small Cities To Live."
