After several roundtable discussions during 2012 involving numerous organizations and businesses, the Housing Enhancement League of Piqua (HELP) has been formed to provide assistance to residential property owners to enhance housing and improve neighborhoods. HELP is a coalition of organizations utilizing each agency’s resources to assist in the overall improvement of the housing stock. HELP hopes to identify streets or blocks that want assistance to improve their homes. The assistance will be provided to the properties that volunteer for the assistance with the first major project planned for June 30, 2013. Organizations participating in HELP include several Piqua area non-profits, Habitat of Humanity, and previously existing neighborhood associations.
The HELP Board of Directors consists of a representative from the following organizations:
- Shawnee Neighborhood Association
- Positively Promoting Piqua (PPP)
- Habitat for Humanity
- Southview Neighborhood Association
- ReNew Piqua
- Miami County Home Builders Association
- Northparks Neighorhood Association
- Property Owners Improving Neighborhoods Together (POINT)
- Piqua Neighborhood Improvement, Inc.
- Southwest Neighborhood Association
- Piqua Compassion Network
- Piqua Association of Churches
Organizations that are interested in being a part of HELP, or any individuals that wish to serve on one of the four (4) committees (Resources, Education and Regulation, Marketing and Public Relations, Project Evaluation), can contact the city to participate.
