The Fort Lauderdale Police Department proudly announced the installation of a Live Scan Fingerprint System in the police station lobby. Live Scan is an alternative method from the old, messy ink fingerprint system.
This new system allows fingerprints to be electronically transmitted making the results and responses available to the requesting agencies or applicants within days of submission. This technology replaces the previous process of manually rolling fingerprints and submitting them by mail. Prior to the installation of this system, it would take weeks and even months to receive results, and if the prints were smudged, the fingerprints would have to be resubmitted. The Live Scan process provides results to your organization or employer within days compared to the previous process which took up to 16-18 weeks.
The Live Scan system produces consistent, high-quality fingerprint images reducing the amount of rejected fingerprints. The system is designed to provide a preview of each fingerprint as it is being captured providing immediate verification of the quality of the fingerprinted image. The system is designed with built-in checks to assist in preventing the capture and transmission of poor quality prints.
