Colleges and universities often hire adjunct faculty for courses designed to provide a professional lens to academic content, such as an MPA course on “Managing Local Government.” Some practicing managers may also be thinking about teaching as “what’s next” after retirement.

This session is designed to help managers with an interest in teaching learn more about what it takes to successfully embark on a teaching role. Participants will leave this session with a stronger understanding of: who should consider teaching, the requirements commonly associated with securing an adjunct faculty position, the skills necessary to lead in-person and online classes,  and the types of resources that exist to support a “manager as teacher” endeavor.
