Thank you hosts and mentors for investing in tomorrow's local government managers. The commitment to host a Fellow is a steep one. Hosts create and fund an entry-level management position, design a rigorous scope of work (based on rotations or single-office placement), support professional development opportunities, and mentor the Fellow for one to two years.
But while the commitment is steep, the returns are great. Since the pilot year, seven alumni Fellows have been hired as managers with many more in senior stepping-stone positions. A directory of current and alumni Fellows is available at icma.org/lgmf under the Become a Fellow menu.

A "hosted position" includes second-year Fellows, as that is an equal (if not greater) financial and mentoring commitment by the host government.
The Local Government Management Fellowship, launched in 2004 by ICMA, NASPAA, NFBPA IHN, and joined in 2015 by WLG, has grown steadily since the pilot year, and we have placed our outstanding 2016 candidates in local governments nationwide.
