CitiStat, CompStat, CountyStat… The range of titles is endless, but they all stem from a common goal – using data to drive better decision-making.

At this year’s 2018 ICMA Annual Conference, attendees will have the opportunity to hear from one of the jurisdictions that popularized the concept, as Baltimore staff share the city’s experiences with the Stat model, including target setting, data collection, a rigorous review of results and action plans, and regular follow-up.  A representative from Montgomery County, Maryland, will also be participating to discuss how that approach has been broadened to facilitate a regional MidAtlantic StatNet consortium.

This session will be presented as an ICMA University Forum on Sunday, September 23, 12:45-2:45pm. In addition to the panelists’ presentations, the forum will allow for extensive small group discussion to explore how attendees might implement the ideas in their own jurisdictions.  While there is no additional charge to attend, pre-registration is required, as space is limited.  If you are attending the opening keynote session, consider signing up for this Sunday afternoon workshop to kick-off your conference experience.

And for anyone interested in benchmarking, the roundtable is also an opportunity to talk about ICMA’s Open Access Benchmarking program, which makes data on 80 key performance indicators available to all local governments free of charge.
