The ICMA Executive Board met June 21-22, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for its quarterly meeting and took the following actions:
- Adopted ICMA's FY 2025 budget. The board reviewed and adopted ICMA's budget for the fiscal year that began on July 1, 2024. The FY 2025 budget demonstrates continued commitment to being a leading provider of relevant and timely support, professional development, and resources to ICMA’s members and their communities. In addition, this budget builds on the work accomplished to date in the implementation of the Envision ICMA Strategic Plan, the global engagement strategy, and other priorities that have emerged in recent years. The budget reflects estimates of revenues to be generated in the upcoming fiscal year through ICMA’s programs and services, as well as the allocation of resources the organization will need to maintain its operating capacity to accomplish its goals and objectives in FY 2025.
- Selected the 2024 recipients of ICMA's Distinguished Service Award. The three individuals selected for ICMA's highest honor will receive recognition at the ICMA Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Approved ICMA Life membership. In recognition of her contribution to ICMA and the local government profession, the board approved granting life membership in ICMA to Cynthia Seelhamer.
- Approved the schedule for the 2024-2025 Nominations and Elections Process. Letters will be sent via email to members eligible to serve on the executive board, tailored by region, in early October 2024.
- Approved proposed changes to the ICMA Regional Nominating process. Following each year’s nominations and elections process, the board reviews feedback from the Regional Nominating Committees on improvements to the process. This year, the board reviewed and approved changes to the process to provide better guidance to Regional Nominating Committee chairs, and reminders to state and affiliate association leadership on the requirements of the region’s protocols for the year, and the roles and responsibilities of their leadership in the process.
- Selected Michael Land to serve as ICMA's 2024-2025 president-elect. The board interviewed Michael Land, city manager of Coppell, Texas. Land was selected to serve as ICMA’s 2024-2025 president-elect.
