The ICMA Executive Board held its quarterly meeting March 8-9, 2024, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and took the following actions:
- Approved the interview questions and 2024-2025 president-elect candidate slate to be interviewed by the board at its June 2024 meeting,
- Approved a set of Governance Principles and Operating Procedures for the Executive Board, to be reviewed and approved by the board on an annual basis.
- Reviewed management reports on ICMA's FY 2024 financial results, certification program expansion, and development of professional development programs.
- Received an update on ICMA's global engagement initiatives and the work of the Governance Task Force.
- Received an update on site selection for the 2028 and 2029 ICMA Annual Conferences.
- Approved granting an ICMA Life membership to Gerald "Jerry" Newfarmer.
- Received an update on efforts to improve awareness of following the ICMA Code of Ethics for new and continuing members.
- Approved changing the name of the Conference Planning Committee to the Conference Education Committee.
- Approved a set of protocols for approving international relationships.
- Received an update on staff and member attendance at the Al Ula Global Summit in Saudi Arabia.
At their dinner on Friday, March 8, the board and ICMA staff were joined by managers from the area, including Vancouver City Manager Paul Mochrie and District of North Vancouver CAO David Stuart.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for June 21-22, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
