The ICMA Executive Board held its quarterly meeting September 20, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and took the following actions:
- Approved granting general management recognition to Ozark, Missouri.
- Approved the nomination of Opal Mauldin-Jones (city manager, Lancaster, Texas), to serve as chair of the MissionSquare Board of Directors for a two-year term, effective September 1, 2024.
- Approved the board's Governance Principles and Operating Procedures, which provide guidance on board operations and standardized procedures. This document is updated annually and reaffirmed at the board’s annual conference meeting.
- Received an update on the work of the Governance Task Force, and approved the appointment of members who will serve on the phase 2 Governance Task Force, which will work to refine recommendations on ICMA’s governance structure. Phase 2 task force members are President-elect Michael Land; Regional Vice Presidents Jorge Gonzalez (Southeast), Dennis Enslinger (Northeast), Jeff Weckbach (Midwest), Elisa Cox (West Coast), Sereniah Breland (Mountain Plains), and Doug Gilchrist (International). Continuing Task Force members are Andy Pederson, Cara Pavlicek, Gerald Hodges, Michael Grebosz, Cindy Mester, Amy Farkas, Aram Chaparyan, Nick Hernandez, Laura Biery, and Jennifer Lawson; and Global Engagement Committee members Charles Duggan and James Verbrugge.
- Approved granting seats on each U.S. Regional Nominating Committee to ICMA’s affiliate organizations I-NAPA and CivicPRIDE, as well as the SheLeadsGov member committee.
- Approved granting Life Membership for Eric Norenberg.
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for January 16-19, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
