With one small letter and a hyphen, we’re introducing a new world of possibilities: e-books.

We’re expanding the meaning of publishing,

Exploring and creating a new landscape,

Setting new expectations and engaging in new ways.

ICMA’s new line of e-books will take several forms. We’re repurposing some of our print publications as e-books, whether in their entirety, as individual chapters, or as collections of articles and other items. We’re also now developing new offerings that will be available exclusively as e-books.

You can locate our initial e-book offerings in ICMA’s online bookstore. When you find something that sparks your interest in the listing of currently available titles, you click on the retailer link that corresponds to your e-book reader and conduct your transaction directly with the retailer. For classroom use of e-books ICMA is partnering with e-textbook distributors.

This publishing adventure is driven by a combination of market forces and member feedback calling for shorter, faster, more targeted content that helps solve problems, show solutions, and describe related cases or examples.

E-books are in a format that packages such content well, and they allow ICMA to be more nimble when addressing emerging issues in local government.  E-books are convenient, portable time and money savers. Their texts are searchable, and as our offerings increase, they will be enhanced with links to relevant websites, embedded video, and other tools that enrich the learning experience. Plus, you can kiss postage costs and shipping delays goodbye!
