  • Michael Morrison City Manager of New Braunfels, Tex. has decided to postpone the July 4th fireworks due to the potential security hazard created by the drought (Austin News).
  • In Oregon, Oakland County Executive denied the prospect of merging with the city of Pontiac although Michael L Stampfler, Pontiac’s emergency financial manager brought up the issue of bankruptcy and proposed a merger (Detroit Free Press).
  • Fayetteville City, N.C. City Manager, Dale Iman, has proposed a budget that in spite of being 3.3% higher than last year’s will keep taxes the same, avoid cuts to services and still allows for employee pay raise (Fayetteville (NC) Fayobserver.com).
  • Two recent deaths involving drugs made from bath salts have led City Manager, Bob Knabel and the City Council of Collinsville, Ill. to prohibit the sale of all bath salts (Chicago, (IL) Chicago Tribune).
  • City Manager of Santa Rosa, Calif., Kathleen Millison ’s proposed budget has been modified to preserve police and fire services and maintain local facilities like public pools (Santa Rosa (CA) Press Democrat).
