Early this year ICMA proudly announced the launch of a nationwide ICMA Coaching Program. The idea behind this program is to help the next generation of leaders learn from current leaders. ICMA Executive Director Bob O’Neill explains, “The ICMA Coaching Program supports our mission to create excellence in local government by developing and fostering professional management at all career stages.”
One of the features of the program is 6 free coaching webinars. These webinars are opportunities to learn about best practices and engage with the presenters. The second of these webinars (summary of the first webinar, Thriving as a High Performance Organization, was covered in an earlier blog post), Building Civic Leadership and Community was held on 04/13 covered:
1. Why is it important for local government agencies to help build civic leadership and community?
2. What are effective strategies to encourage civic leadership and community building?
