The Capital Region Sustainability Plan will provide a framework for programs and projects that will reduce air, water and land pollution and improve our quality of life through smart growth and sustainable development. Implementing the Sustainability Plan will result in improved energy efficiency, increased use and availability of renewable energy, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the creation of green job opportunities throughout the Capital Region. The Capital Region Sustainability Plan encompasses the eight counties of Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, and Washington and is home to approximately 1.1 million people.
