Cities leverage the arts to make capital and economic infastructure investments through projects such as cultural districts and public art. Yet the arts have more to offer. Through a new program called 'Creative City Making', Minneapolis is cultivating intersections between City staff and artists to address issues of racial disparity. These intersetions between diverse fields, sectors and cultures are the birthplace of new thinking, which is the source of new behavior. Creative City Making (CCM) focuses on developing new tools and strategies for community engagement that allow diverse voices to be heard, residents to influence decision-making, and government to be more responsive in creating a city that works for all.
