In December 2011, the Durban Adaptation Charter (DAC) was formed at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) 17 in Durban (eThekwini Municipality), South Africa. The 114 local government officials from 27 different countries who signed the Charter committed to help their communities cope with climate change risks, enabling them to become more resilient. ICMA's CityLinks team conducted a Durban Adaptation Charter Implementation Guidance Workshop in March 2013 in Durban, South Africa, which allowed local government officials from across the globe to form an effective plan for implementing the charter. This report documents the results of that workshop and analyzes the input of those who participated.
