The city of Sarasota, Florida, Project Coordination Program was nominated to the 2005 ICMA Annual Awards Program. With five major construction projects scheduled to ensue simultaneously in the downtown area, the city initiated a program of regularly scheduled weekly meetings in which representatives of each project were invited to participate. A collaborative and cooperative relationship between developers was forged. As a result, all projects construction schedules were met, traffic circulation was maintained, and loss of parking and street closures were minimized.
