The City of Winter Park’s Fire and Rescue Department discovered that many ambulances did not meet the safety needs of paramedics, and to address this problem, the City created the Ambulance Safety Initiative (ASI). The ASI project took bids to redesign the ambulances and implemented one design that used a harness system to keep medical attendants safe while riding in an ambulance.
