The City of Knoxville, Iowa is the county seat of Marion County and is located only 25 miles from the Des Moines metro area. Knoxville is the birth place of the Iowa flag, home to the Knoxville Raceway and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum.
The City of Knoxville is seeking an experienced and visionary Economic Development Director to promote and facilitate economic growth within Knoxville. The work of this position is to promote and facilitate development in Knoxville. This position would enable the City to more directly shape the future of the community as new economic growth opportunities are created.
Framework and focus of the Economic Development Director would include:
● Business Development
● Workforce Development
● Incentive and Policy Development
● Housing Development
● Community Attraction and Marketing
This position will work with current commercial property owners in the development of their property, market development opportunities to business location decision makers, assemble information that is accessible and useful to current and prospective business decision makers, and develop strong working relationships with internal and external City partners.
Qualifications for the position include: graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, Urban Planning or a related field is required. Three to five years of related work experience in community/economic development; business development; real estate development; or related fields. Comprehensive knowledge of the advanced principles and accepted practices of municipal government operations, land use planning and regulations, public relations, planning and zoning activities and recent developments in the field of urban planning.
