Assistant City Manager: Infrastructure & Capital Program Delivery

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:
The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and strategic leader to serve as its Assistant City Manager for Infrastructure and Capital Program Delivery. This executive-level position reports directly to the City Manager and plays a critical role in delivering high-impact infrastructure projects, overseeing key departments, and guiding City-wide initiatives with lasting community benefit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advise and support the City Manager in developing strategic plans and evaluating services and programs.
Direct and oversee operations of assigned departments, including Public Works, Facilities and Capital Construction, and others as designated.
Lead the delivery of major capital improvement programs, including TSPLOST initiatives.
Coordinate cross-departmental efforts, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with the City’s goals.
Represent the City at Council meetings, community events, and with external stakeholders.
Oversee budget planning and administration for assigned areas.
Provide executive-level customer service, problem resolution, and operational leadership.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
We’re looking for a seasoned leader with:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Public or Business Administration, Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
7+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in municipal operations or project delivery.
Demonstrated success in capital program management, with the ability to oversee complex, multi-million dollar initiatives.
A collaborative and innovative approach to problem-solving, with strong communication and project management skills.
The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and communicate complex ideas clearly.
A proactive, forward-thinking mindset that anticipates the needs of a growing, modern city.
Valid Georgia Driver’s License
HIGHLY DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Urban or City Planning, Engineering or a related field
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Georgia
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
We offer a competitive salary of $170,000 to $185,000 and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans with a 12% contribution into the retirement plan and up to a 5% match of employee’s funds to total up to 22%, paid leave, paid short term and long term disability, and professional development support. This position is exempt and will work on location in City Hall.
