Oshkosh Northwestern Media named Oshkosh, WI, (pop. 66,621) City Manager Mark Rohloff its 2013 Newsmaker of the Year.

The publication lauded Rohloff, whose motto is “Let’s do it,” for his “efforts to make up ground on infrastructure improvements, kick-start quality-of-life projects and recast the city’s relationship with its residents.”

It also credited Rohloff with “empowering staff to get moving on plans and projects across the city, changing the culture at City Hall and spearheading a proactive approach to everything from the city’s role in economic development to basic infrastructure improvements and improved customer service.”

Rohloff shared credit with the city’s Common Council, for giving him a strategic plan of action, and the city’s employees for their work.

He says he sees himself as a cheerleader for city staff, catalyst for partnerships and matchmaker for challenges and resources.

City Manager

Rohloff has been Oshkosh's manager since 2008. Previously, he served as town adminstrator of Grand Chute, WI, city administrator of Berlin, WI, and deputy city manager of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. He has held analyst and management assistant positions in Long Beach, CA, and Ft. Collins, CO. Rohloff received his B.A. from St. Louis University and MPA from the University of Kansas.
