When the community of East Grand Rapids outgrew the city library, city offices, and recreation facilities, city staff and community members decided to build a new community center.

The Village of Potosi had a bookmobile that provided village residents with library services. After the bookmobile became too costly and was discontinued, the Village partnered with the City of Lancaster to open a branch library.
