ICMA and students from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs are excited to announce the formation of the Student Chapter at Ohio State University. Members are both graduate and undergraduate students from disciplines including public affairs, political science, city and regional planning, and international studies.

The chapter has received exceptional support from the Ohio City/County Management Association, as well as the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. The college is devoted to inspiring citizenship and developing leadership among a new generation of public leaders who are prepared to take on the complex issues of tomorrow's governance. Ted Staton, city manager of Upper Arlington, serves as chapter mentor alongside faculty advisor Dr. Charlotte Kirschner.

The purpose of the student chapter is to introduce and integrate students into local government. A primary goal in forming this chapter is to connect Ohio's city and county managers with Ohio State's next generation of public leaders through networking events, mentoring opportunities, shadowing experiences, and internships with local governments.

“The Ohio City/County Managers Association (OCMA) is very excited about the formation of the OSU Student Chapter of ICMA. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get exposure to local government careers, search for internship and job opportunities, research various public administration topics and to build a network with other students and practitioners that will serve them well throughout their careers. OCMA looks forward to working with the OSU Student Chapter in the future and wishes them success on this new endeavor.”—Charlotte Colley, OCMA President
