In 2005 the Greater Kansas Community Foundation released the “Time to Get It Right” report, which studied higher education and its place in the greater Kansas City region. By establishing a partnership in 2007 between the City of Olathe, Kansas State University, and the Kansas Bio-Science Authority, these three organizations developed a plan addressing the problems stated in the report. During the planning stage officials saw an opportunity to create the Kansas Bioscience Park. This park has great potential because it could serve the region’s educational, research, and economic needs, as well as the world’s food safety needs.
